From a fiscal standpoint, the hat ran me $32. She bought me $10 in booze, but then I bought half a drink for her (loooong story), so let's say she was +$7 on the tab. So the question becomes, did I get $25 in entertainment out of it? For the four hours I spent with her, would I pay someone $6.25/hr? I think so. I don't think I'd hire someone full time for the job, but it's a reasonable rate for an evening out if that's how it breaks down. Not to mention I walked away with quite the story and a semi-lasting smile. I think I came out ahead.
Well that's the rub. I got it at Urban Outfitters. It was the last one on the shelf, and they don't have it online. It really was the last of its kind.
So then, the question is, is it better to have loved and lost (a hat) or never to have loved at all (and still have a cool hat?)
